The Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel

The Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel evolved to become known as the Beverly-Wilshire Hotel and in the 1940s new owners added a room to accommodate the popular Big Bands of the day. As well, an Olympic-sized swimnmming pool was built and championship tennis courts were added with tennis champion Pancho Gonzalez serving as tennis director. The hotel changed hands in 1958 and again in 1961 to a group of investors headed by Hernando Courtright who put the hotel on the international map as a luxury stop for those with discerning taste and the money to match. Since that time, the Beverly-Wilshire Hotel has been synonymous with the wealthy and glamorous movie stars who frequent its premises. The hotel was one of the filming locations for the 1990 movie Pretty Woman.

Acquired by Regent International Hotels in 1985, since 1992 the 395 room luxury hotel has been managed by Four Seasons Hotel Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts under license from Regent International Hotels which is now a subsidiary of Carlson Companies Carlson Companies, Inc. of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
